this is Akihisa Yoshi form Baka and test he and Yuuko( his later wife) were brought into tailsend when it was made. His false self was a man of logic and science, while Yuuko became a spiritual list, The two married within a year and combining the knowledge of science and magic they made something that by mistake allowed them some resistance form the memory altering powers of the town.
some days they remember there real selves and home some days they don't it's random.
Knowing something magical was going on they remained under the radar living as there false selves. Akihisa's a school teacher at the towns collage, he and his wife living there lives half the time knowing they where in another world unable to go home or leave tailsend.
then Akihisa one day spotted a confused Sheriff Rayman (Really roman torchwick) and know his memories had been returned to him and confront to someone else about the town for the first time.
Akihisa put it together that the magic holding them here wasn't in there mysterious villain, but instead the town and the villain was part of the magic made to protect the place.
Akihisa and Yuuko's help allowed them to find out how the town works, the towns magic drew in people who would change there worlds and brought them here working in three parts hold in place by three mystic seals.
one seal that holds back there true selves. one That stops them form leaving the town, and one that keeps the town together.
He and Yuuko located one of the seals and found away to brake it so while the rest of the good ends and bad ends battled hidden Akihisa walked to the seal and destroyed it.
finding out the mysterious villain can only live with the complete spell it had the added effect of destroying it along with the memory spell, but a side effect gave Akihisa the part of the town's magic that held the memories making Akihsia a wizard.
Akihisa is no longer an idiot being the smartest person in time thanks to his false self, and a caring man thanks to his former true self. (he fuse the fusion of real and fake as the new real him saying, "Let us take the best of both versions of our selves old, and false to make the best versions of our selves)
